What makes a good pitch?

These are the rules this tool follows. Seven things every pitch should include:

  1. 01

    Show appreciation in the beginning

“Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share my song with you.”

  2. 02

Share the story behind the song in 2–3 sentences

“The song is about a topic that is very close to my heart — the moment Taylor Swift smiled at me.”

  3. 03

Mention the playlist your song fits

“I feel like it would be a great fit for your Rock Playlist.”

  4. 04

Prove that you actually listened to the playlist

“I saw that you feature Blink-182 and The Offspring, and my song has a very similar style to theirs.”

  5. 05

    Offer a shout-out

“I would love to share your playlist with my 10k fans.”

  6. 06

Point to specific moments worth hearing

“You better listen to the guitar solo at 2:45 and the climax at 3:22.”

  7. 07

Show appreciation at the end as well

“Thanks for taking the time to listen, and have a great weekend.”

And three more, if they apply to you:

  1. 08

    Mention past successes

“My previous song got featured on an official Spotify playlist.”

  2. 09

Mention who mixed or produced the song

    “Produced by Taylor Swift's producer.”

  3. 10

    Mention past approvals

“Thanks again for sharing my song ‘Cruel Summer.’”

One honest note: a great pitch can’t save a weak song or a bad playlist match. If you get feedback on your song, find the right curators, and send personalized pitches like these, an approval rate above 30% is absolutely realistic.
