Why Is Nobody Watching Your Content? 10 Reasons and How to Fix Them

By Finch Bergling · Aug 26, 2025 · 📱 Content & Social

If your videos aren't hitting 1,000 views, it's not always the algorithm's fault.

Most of the time, it comes down to what you post and how you post it. Here are 10 reasons it might be happening.

1. Your audience is in a different country than you.

Algorithms usually show your content first to people near you. If it isn't relevant to them, they scroll past it.

2. Your content doesn't make people feel anything.

Most people use social media to be entertained. If your videos don't make them feel something, they won't watch.

3. Your content isn't good enough yet.

If you post covers, they need to be excellent. If you make funny videos, they need to be very funny. Don't settle for average.

4. You're not following the platform's rules.

Every platform has small details that matter, like posting at the right times, engaging with other accounts, and making videos the right length. These details can make a big difference. I wrote about 5 little-known Instagram algorithm facts that might help.

5. You're not promoting your videos.

Posting and walking away isn't enough. Share it to your story, post it on other platforms, and reply to comments.

6. You haven't been doing it long enough.

Overnight success doesn't exist. Even if you do everything right, you need to keep posting until your content reaches the right people.

7. Your content has no clear theme.

If your videos are all over the place, people don't know what to expect. Stick to a niche so your audience and the algorithm both know what you're about.

8. You're not experimenting enough.

If your usual style isn't working, try something new. Different formats, angles or trends can help you find what connects.

9. Your energy doesn't match your audience.

If you're going after a hype-loving crowd but your videos are low energy, that's a mismatch. Match the vibe your audience wants to see.

10. You're not studying what works.

Look at your best videos, and at other creators in your niche. Figure out why they worked, repeat what does well, and improve what doesn't.

One thing at a time

I didn't figure these out overnight. It took me months of posting, failing, testing and learning to see these patterns.

So don't stress about fixing everything at once. Pick one thing, improve it, and then move on to the next.

A content idea to try: the setup vs the shot

Most artists only post the final product. But behind-the-scenes content often connects more.

This video from Gary Grey shows a "setup vs shot" idea. The behind-the-scenes part looks raw and funny, and the final shot looks cinematic and impressive.

How to make one:

  • Film your behind-the-scenes, and not only the final music video.
  • Show both: first the setup, then the shot.
  • Think outside the box and use what you already have, like a TV, a treadmill, mirrors or props. That's what makes people stop scrolling.

Sometimes the behind-the-scenes version even does better than the official clip. And if it gets hate comments, the algorithm usually pushes it further. A video of you reading those comments might do even better than the original.

Why it works so well:

  • It shows the process and the result, and people love seeing how the trick is done.
  • It feels clever and low budget, which makes it very shareable.
  • The contrast keeps people watching. First they laugh at the setup, then they're impressed by the shot.
  • It shows you as resourceful and original, which fans respect and remember.
