7 Ways to Get on Spotify Playlists
In this post, I want to cover my 7 most recommended ways to get on Spotify playlists.
But before diving in, it's crucial to understand:
If you receive an email or DM offering playlist placement for a certain number of streams, not only is it likely a scam and they are using bots instead of real listeners, but it's also illegal and could result in your song being removed from the platform. If it seems too good to be true, there's probably something fishy going on.
I see wayyyy too many musicians getting their music placed on paid or botted playlists, experiencing a massive spike in streams, but then are left with 10 monthly listeners once their song is off the playlist.
There are millions of reasons why this can destroy your career, and it's probably a subject for another post.
If you want to make sure the playlist you're submitting to is legit, I recommend using Is It a Good Playlist.
Now, let's get to the tip - how to find Spotify Playlists?
✅ 1. Use the "Discovered On" section
Search artists who sound like you.
Open their Spotify profile (on browser) and scroll down to "Discovered On."
You'll see the playlists that featured them in the last 2 months.
Click each one and check the description for contact info.
✅ 2. Search for emails inside Spotify
Type "gmail.com" or "Instagram" into Spotify's search bar and filter for playlists.
You'll find curators who left their contact info in their descriptions.
That usually means they're open to submissions.
✅ 3. Try DistroKid's Playlister tool
If you're on DistroKid's Ultimate plan, go to:
Get Heard Now → Playlister
Search your genre and you'll get a list of real curator contacts.
The feature is still new, but it's worth checking out.
In case you don't have Distrokid yet, here is a 7% discount link for you.
✅ 4. Use trusted online platforms
These platforms help you find and contact playlist curators easily.
They also guarantee that the playlists are legit and will help you generate streams:
- SubmitHub – 10% discount
- PlaylistPush (7.5% off with the code 'finch')
- SoundCampaign
- SongRocket
- One Submit
✅ 5. Build your own playlist
Once you know how to run ads, start building a playlist around a theme or genre.
Add your song at the top to promote it.
If it goes well and grows, people will reach out to you asking to put their song in the playlist.
Over time, you can apply to become a curator, earn money, trade placements, and network with other artists.
The number of opportunities that can arise from having your playlist is more than I thought when I built my first playlist a few years ago.
If you want to skip the learning curve, I offer a playlist creation service where I build the playlist for you and promote it.
✅ 6. I can help too!
Also, of course - I'm a playlist curator myself.
I have a few playlists with a total of over 62k+ saves, and I would love to give you a chance to submit your music to one of them!
If I like the song, I will add it, but I can't guarantee placement.
You can listen to my playlists here.
And you can submit your music to me right here on this site.
✅ 7. Use PlaylistSupply
PlaylistSupply is a search engine built for playlist pitching.
It has a huge database of real playlist curators, and you can check the quality of their playlists before submitting your song.
Personally, I really like the site's clean design and the sheer size of its database. You can join PlaylistSupply here.
